At the time of his death in February 2016, the name Anthony LaRezza had become synonymous with the IHA Softball program. Coach LaRezza became the Immaculate Heart head coach in 2005 after joining the staff in 1998, leading the Blue Devils to two Non-Public A State Championship and four Bergen County Tournament titles. He was 20th on the all-time North Jersey softball coaching victories list with 338 wins and was only the second coach to win three Bergen County titles in a row. LaRezza was beloved, not only for his coaching abilities but for his rapport with the girls on and off the field.
As well as coaching at IHA, LaRezza made a profound impact on the club softball world as co-founder of New Jersey Pride and President of Akadema Elite. He was also a Newark firefighter. Anthony LaRezza died at the age of 50 following a battle with tongue and throat cancer.
